Asianux Extends Support to Mobile Internet Devices

Intel Developer Forum, Taipei (15 October 2007)-Today, Asianux Consortium (which consists of Red Flag of China, HAANSOFT of Korea, and Miracle Linux of Japan) announced that it is extending its coverage from servers to Mobile Internet Devices (MIDs) with its Asianux Mobile Midinux Edition. The Asianux consortium is collaborating with Intel to optimize Linux solutions for Mobile Internet Devices (MIDs).

Red Flag, the premier member of Asianux, was the first OSV to cooperate with Intel in developing Linux OS for MIDs and released the first MID Linux Product, Midinux1.0, at Computex in June 2007. So far, several leading OEMs and ODMs have decided to deploy Midinux in their MID products. Based on Midinux, the capability of Asianux Mobile Midinux Edition is optimized for Intel based Mobile Internet Devices. The Asianux Consortium has set up an R&D center in Beijing and local support centers in Seoul and Tokyo. The consortium also plans to set up a branch in Taipei to provide local technical support to its Taiwanese customers.

The Asianux Consortium expects to release its Asianux Mobile Midinux Edition in January 2008. This edition will build on the strengths of Red Flag's Midinux efforts and will extend the reach to Korea with Haansoft and Japan with Miracle Linux. The Asianux Consortium expects that this edition will become the platform for a growing number of applications. The customer support model, which is set up by Asianux, will provide reliable customization and after sale service for clients in each country. The Asianux Consortium is cooperating with several international leading PC/consumer electronic products vendors in Asianux Mobile Midinux Edition. The Asianux Consortium covers 4 countries and 25 percent of the world's population.
