MIRACLE LINUX Joins Forces with South Korea's SecuBrain and GeneVic in Joint Promotion of a Solid and Secure Operating System Environment

MIRACLE LINUX, Co., together with SecuBrain Co., Ltd. and GeneVic Co., Ltd, announced an agreement to combine their strength through shared technology, joint product inspection, mutual product transaction, and marketing to construct a high-security operating system (hereafter, "OS") for both the "e-Japan" concept and an IT structure for the South Korean government. This joint operation envisions a combination of Miracle Linux's "Functional Strengthening of a Linux Operating System for e-Japan" and SecuBrain and GeneVic's "Strengthing of System Security for the South Korean Government" programs.

With progress advancing in recent years on commission of both the Japanese government-backed e-Japan project and the South Korean government's IT structuring, OS security has become preeminent. Since August 27th, Miracle Linux has begun a monitoring program for e-Japan and is also proceeding with product development on the "MIRACLE LINUX" server OS. This development is being carried out in accordance with the primary task of security aspects such as information protection, as well special requirements made by the Japanese government including Japanese language support. Secubrain, working for the rapidly growing South Korean security market, has gone beyond the limits of existing information security systems with its development of the OS-level anti-hacking and access control software "Hizard." Secubrain is currently working to strengthen security for industrial and government entities though improvements in anti-hacking research and product functionality, as well as installations for such bodies as the National Police Agency Anti-Cyber Terrorism Center.

The companies' joint operation is based on a contract signed by Miracle Linux, SecuBrain, and GeneVic for the purpose of "Construction of a Strengthened Security OS Environment" that will act as a solution for the IT structuring of both governments. The major points of the contract are as follows:

  1. For the purpose of strengthening OS security: technology sharing, joint evaluation, and marketing

    Miracle Linux
    • Hizard localization
    • Quality testing under Japanese language environment
    • Inspection tests combining Hizard with other applications such as Oracle
    • Development of Linux functions necessary to government/municipal Offices and establishment of a support system
    SecuBrain
    • Hizard development
    • Work and inspection of Hizard port to MIRACLE LINUX
    • Construction and support of decisive security policy for South Korean governing bodies
    GeneVic
    • Support for Japanese localization of Hizard

Technology sharing and mutual product quality improvement
Share of information on Miracle Linux's Linux Server OS, open source technologies, and security technologies at SecuBrain and GeneVic and product quality improvement at both companies

  2. Mutual product sales and support in Japan and South Korea

    Miracle Linux
    Sale of Hizard within Japan
Miracle Linux will carry out strict quality and operation testing for the Japanese language version of Hizard and provide the OS-level security strengthening software's first domestic release under the name "MIRACLE HiZARD." It will also provide fast and intricate support service through collaboration with SecuBrain.

    GeneVic
Sale of MIRACLE LINUX within South Korea
Since January 2003, GeneVic has carried out evaluation and inspection of MIRACLE LINUX with accompanying market analysis. Having judged MIRACLE LINUX capable of quick integration into the government and enterprises of South Korea, it has finalized the OS's domestic development. Upon completion of a Korean language version of MIRACLE LINUX, Genevic will begin business development of the OS to be ready by the start next year.

MIRACLE HiZARD, which is scheduled for introduction to the Japanese market by Miracle Linux at the end of October, is security software that protects servers from information leaks and from prohibited access through exploitation of security holes. As a security module inserted directly into the OS kernel layer, MIRACLE HiZARD is capable of prevention against both known and unknown hacking techniques, and can carry out powerful system and data access control at the OS level.

It includes the following main features:
  • Anti-hacking functions that prevent outside attacks
  • Access control functions that prevent information leaks from within
  • GUI management functions that simplify management of multiple servers

Through combination of MIRACLE LINUX with Oracle products, and now MIRACLE HiZARD, Miracle Linux will continue to provide system construction environments with high levels of dependability, stability, and security.
